Abbreviations (US):
You crochet in spiral rounds and the work will NOT be closed at the end
with a slst. If you need to work in row´s I will mention it in the pattern.
I always stuff quiet strong till nothing will fit in. Especially with body
and head this is important – fill always small little pieces in – with the
middle finger and the pointer of both hands in the work and place the
stuffing good in the bends so you get a space in the middle that you
can fill up. If you should just fill a little this is also mentioned in the
pattern.
You will need the following knowledge for the pattern! Close hole:
You close the hole by passing the sewing needle all around only
through the front loop. In the end, the hole contracts very small
Candy cane
The candy cane is first crocheted in spiral rounds. Then in rows (there
is an opening) and later again in spiral rounds. The opening is sewn
together in between! Don’t panic, everything is explained step by step.
White wool and you start in spiral rounds:
- 6 sc in magic-ring, alternatively cast on 2 ch and crochet
6 sc into the 1st chain = 6 sc - Inc. every stich = 12 sc
- 1 sc, 1x inc. (6x) = 18 sc
- 2 sc, 1x inc. (6x) = 24 sc
- 11 sc, 1x inc. (2x) = 26 sc
- 26 sc = 26 sc
- 26 sc = 26 sc
- 26 sc = 26 sc
- 5 sc, 16 half double crochet, 5 sc, 1 turn chain = 26
- to 61: From now on the work is turned. You continue to work in rows:
5 single crochet, 16 half double crochet, 5 single crochet, 1 tch. (52 rows)
- Now you continue to crochet in spiral rounds. Simply insert the crochet
hook in the first stitch and crochet 26 sc all around.
It continues as follows:
- 26 sc = 26 sc
- 26 sc = 26 sc
- 26 sc = 26 sc
- 26 sc = 26 sc
Intermediate step:
Now you put the crochet hook aside and pull a large loop so that the
end does not pull open. Take filling cotton and white sewing thread. Fill
the tip tightly with filling cotton. Sew up the opening piece by piece
with the sewing thread and repeatedly refill small pieces of filling
cotton, until the slot is completely closed.
If the seam doesn’t look good, that’s fine. Later the border comes
around and then you can’t see it anymore.
Now you continue to crochet as follows:
- to 114 26 sc per round (47 rounds) each 26 sc
This is a bit difficult at the beginning because the sausage or the stick,
whatever you want to call the part, is always in the way.
Refill firmly and evenly in between. You can distribute the filling cotton
evenly by taking the rod in your hand and stroking it vigorously. Yes, yes,
I already know how that sounds, I had to laugh at it myself when I wrote LOL - 11 sc, 1x dec. (2x) = 24 sc
- 2 sc, 1x dec. (6x) = 18 sc
Refill - 1 sc, 1x dec. (6x) = 12 sc
- 6x dec. = 6 sc
Cast off, close the hole and sew up the thread. You can bend the bow
of the candy cane into place.
Candy cane border in blue or your favorite color, you crochet in rows:
- Cast on 500 chains + 1 turn chain = 501 ch
- 500 sc, 1 tch. = 500 sc
- 500 sc, 1 tch. = 500 sc
- 500 sc = 500 sc
Cast off, sew up threads. Wrap evenly and tightly around the candy
cane. I also tried 3 times until it fit exactly. Only the beginning and the
end of about 1 cm / 0,395 inch have to be glued on with a little glue.
Alternatively, sew on with a few stitches.
The candy cane is ready

push small pieces nicely into the curves.
Pin the head to the body and sew it on all around, stitch by stitch.

- Fold the hat edge inwards and work with 54 single crochets onto the
protruding loop from round 29. (See photo)
Cast off, sew up the thread, shape the edge of the hat and fill the hat
with filling cotton.
Hat border in orange or the color of your choice, you crochet in rows:
- Cast on 4 chains + 1 turn chain = 5 ch
- 4 sc, 1 tch.
Work until the border fits around the hat once
Cast off, leave the thread to sew and set aside for now. The border will
be sewn on later
Small ice crystal in the color white:
- 6 sc in magic-ring, alternatively cast on 2 ch and crochet
6 sc into the 1st chain = 6 sc - Work in the first stitch as follows:
1 slip stitch
3 chain stitches
1 Single crochet in the first stitch of the chain stitch (see photos)
1 slip stitch
You have now crocheted what is known as a picot.
Repeat the process 5 more times in the remaining stitches
Cast off, sew up the thread, pull the tips into shape, put to one side.
Picot: You have crocheted 3 chain stitches. The sewing needle shows the puncture point of the
first chain stitch. There you crochet a single crochet.
Large ice crystal in the color white:
- 6 sc in magic-ring, alternatively cast on 2 ch and crochet
6 sc into the 1st chain = 6 sc - Inc. every stich = 12 sc
- Work in the first stitch as follows:
1 slip stitch
4 chain stitches
1 single crochet in the first stitch of the chain stitch
Work in the second stitch as follows: 1 slip stitch
Repeat the process 5 more times in the remaining stitches
Cast off, sew up the thread, pull the tips into shape, put to one side
Nose in the color red, it is crocheted in an oval:
Start with a chain. You crochet on the top forward and on the bottom
backwards. In this way you get an oval.
- Cast on 13 chains + 1 turn chain = 13+1 ch
- 12 sc, 3 sc in the last stitch, now crochet on the bottom
back with 11 sc, 2 sc into the last stitch = 28 sc
The sewing needle shows the 1st entry stitch, crochet on top of the chain forward and on the
bottom crochet the way backwards.
It continues in spiral rounds
- 1x inc., 11 sc, 3x inc., 11 sc, 2x inc. = 34 sc
- 34 sc = 34 sc
- 34 sc = 34 sc
- 6 sc, 1x dec., 2 sc, 1x dec., 10 sc, 1x dec., 3 sc, 1x dec., 5 sc = 30 sc
Cast off and leave a long tail. Embroider in white wool and double yarn,
a little highlight onto the nose. You can make a knot inside of the nose.
Eyes in black and white, make 2. You start with black:
- 5 sc in magic-ring, alternatively cast on 2 ch and crochet
5 sc into the 1st chain = 5 sc - Inc. every stich = 10 sc
- 1 sc, 1x inc. (5x) = 15 sc
- 15 sc = 15 sc
- 15 sc = 15 sc
Color change to white - 15 sc = 15 sc
- 15 sc = 15 sc
- 15 sc = 15 sc
- 1 sc, 1x dec. (5x) = 10 sc
- 5x dec. = 5 sc
Cast off, close hole and sew thread. The eyes are not filled but squeezed
so that a cavity is created at the back and they bulge at the front.
We’ll first put the head together. Put some cotton wool under the nose.
Pin the nose, eyes, hat as illustrated until you like it, otherwise move
again. The nose is the central point. Only when you have the feeling
that everything is sitting correctly, then take off the eyes and hat again.
Sew on the nose all the way around and shortly before the end refill it
again vigorously.
Pin the eyes again. Using white sewing thread, carefully sew on all
around with small stitches below the edge. However, I prefer gluing
with a hot glue gun or liquid glue. If you glue it carefully, it will look
super clean. Then glue on the half-pearls so that the snowman squints.
To embroider the mouth and eyebrows, mark the puncture sites with
pins. Embroider with black wool.
To embroider, make a knot in the end of the thread, look for a slightly
larger stitch hole and go in with the needle. You guide the needle to a
marked puncture point. The knot slips through the mesh hole, gets
stuck inside and the thread is stuck
Put the hat on at an angle and sew it on with black sewing thread at
the transition to the edge of the hat, all around with large stitches.
Place the hat border around the hat and sew it together from the back.
Sew on the two ice crystals with white sewing thread or carefully glue
on. Fold up the brim of the hat a little.
Arms in black and white, make 2. You start with black:
- 6 sc in magic-ring, alternatively cast on 2 ch and crochet
6 sc into the 1st chain = 6 sc - Inc. every stich = 12 sc
- 2 sc, 1x inc. (4x) = 16 sc
- 16 sc = 16 sc
- 3 sc, 1x inc. (4x) = 20 sc
- 20 sc = 20 sc
- 20 sc = 20 sc
- 8 sc, 1x dec. (2x) = 18 sc
- 7 sc, 1x dec. (2x) = 16 sc
- 6 sc, 1x dec. (2x) = 14 sc
- 5 sc, 1x dec. (2x) = 12 sc
- 12 sc = 12 sc
- 12 sc = 12 sc
Color change to white - 12 sc = 12 sc
- 12 sc = 12 sc
Fill the hand well with filling cotton, but not quite as tightly.
They should still be able to squeeze. - 1x inc., 5 sc (2x) = 14 sc
- 14 sc = 14 sc
- 2 sc, 1x inc., 6 sc, 1x inc., 4 sc = 16 sc

- 18 sc = 18 sc
- 4 sc, 1x inc., 8 sc, 1x inc., 4 sc = 20 sc
- 20 sc = 20 sc
Fill the arm completely, but only slightly. It still has to be squeezed well. - 20 sc = 20 sc
- 20 sc = 20 sc
- 20 sc = 20 sc
- 3 sc, 1x dec. (4x) = 16 sc
- 16 sc = 16 sc
Refill easily - 2 sc, 1x dec. (4x) = 12 sc
- 12 sc = 12 sc
Refill - 6x dec. = 6 sc
Cast off, close the hole and leave the thread to sew
Thumb in the color black, make 2:
- 6 sc in magic-ring, alternatively cast on 2 ch and crochet
6 sc into the 1st chain = 6 sc - Inc. every stich = 12 sc
- 2 sc, 1x dec. (3x) = 9 sc
Cast off, leave the thread to sew on. Pin the thumbs to the hands and
sew them all around.
Attach arms to the right and left of the body. Put the snowman on the
candy cane. He should be able to grab the candy cane with his hands.
Otherwise move the arms a little more.
Sew on with small stitches at the bottom edge, between arm and body,
up to the pins in the photo
Legs in black and white, make 2. You start with black:
- 6 sc in magic-ring, alternatively cast on 2 ch and crochet
6 sc into the 1st chain = 6 sc - Inc. every stich = 12 sc
- Attention dear crochet mice! I know that you only look at the number
of stitches at the end. Since the shape should be oval, the increases are
distributed differently.
3 sc, 3x inc. (2x) = 18 sc - 3 sc, 1 sc, 1x inc. (3x), 3 sc, 1 sc, 1x inc. (3x) = 24 sc
- 24 sc = 24 sc

- 16 sc = 16 sc
- 16 sc = 16 sc
- 16 sc = 16 sc
Color change to white - 16 sc = 16 sc
Fill the foot firmly with filling cotton - 16 sc = 16 sc
- 16 sc = 16 sc
- 16 sc = 16 sc
- 16 sc = 16 sc
From now on, always fill the leg slightly, but completely. They should
still be able to squeeze. - 7 sc, 1x inc., 8 sc = 17 sc
- 8 sc, 1x inc., 8 sc = 18 sc
- 18 sc = 18 sc
- 10 sc, 1x inc., 7 sc = 19 sc
- 11 sc, 1x inc., 7 sc = 20 sc
- 12 sc, 1x inc., 7 sc = 21 sc
- 13 sc, 1x inc., 7 sc = 22 sc
Refill easily - 22 sc = 22 sc
- 22 sc = 22 sc
- 22 sc = 22 sc
- 12 sc, 2x dec., 6 sc = 20 sc
- 20 sc = 20 sc
- 3 sc, 1x dec. (4x) = 16 sc
- 16 sc = 16 sc
- 2 sc, 1x dec. (4x) = 12 sc
Refill easily - 12 sc = 12 sc
- 6x dec. = 6 sc
Cast off, close the hole and leave the thread to sew on. Attach the legs
to the right and left of the body. Put the snowman on the candy cane.
He should hold the candy cane in his shoes. Otherwise move the legs a
little more.
Sew on with small stitches on the lower edge, between thigh and body,
up to the pins in the photo.
Scarf in the color yellow or color of your choice, you crochet in rows:
- Cast on 100 chains + 1 turn chain = 101 ch
- 100 sc, 1 tch = 100 sc
- to 8. each 100 sc, 1 tch (5 rows) each 100 sc
For a nice structure, I only crocheted in the back loop of each row
Cast off, sew the threads, place the scarf around the neck and fix it with
a dot of glue or sew it together with 2 stitches
Pin the snowman to the candy cane. Sew onto hands and feet with
black sewing thread. Sew the candy cane onto the head with white
sewing thread. If you can handle the hot glue gun well, you can of
course also carefully glue everything on. Please use only a little glue,
not that it overflows.
Hanging strap in the color white, you crochet in rows:
- Cast on 70 chains + 1 turn chain = 70+1 ch
The length is only my measurement for my door. You can of course
crochet the ribbon according to your desired length. - 70 sc = 70 sc
Cast off, leave the thread to sew on. Pin one end to the back of the
head, pin the other end to the candy cane and sew it on in the area of
the pins (see photos). Done!
