Do not fasten off. Leave working loop on
hook and continue on to assemble head.

head assembly
Continue in pale brown. Place back head piece on top of front (wrong-sides facing).
Lengthen working loop and turn work over so the front of head is facing. Insert hook into st on front piece and then into last st worked on back piece. Work a sc to join.
Make another 65 sc around head, working through both front and back. Stuff head firmly before closing rnd with a sl st. This is the ‘hairline’.
Continue on to make the hair.

Fasten off, leaving a tail. Gently pull the dc dec st from row 8 of the fringe down towards the centre of the face. Use A tapestry needle and yarn tail to secure fringe here.
In off-white, and using pictures as a guide, add markings to the fringe.

4 popcorn stitch, 5 sc [6]

Fasten off, leaving a tail. Antlers do not need to be stuffed. Sew to top of head, just behind hairline, about 6 sts apart.

ears
front
Make 2, start in off-white
Ch 8. Start in 2nd ch from hook and work around both sides of starting chain. Work in joined rnds.
1 2 sc, 4 dc, 4 hdc into last stitch,
continue on other side of ch, 4 dc, 2 sc, sl st into first sc to join rnd [16]
Change to pale brown
2 ch 2, sc into same st, (3 sc, inc) x 3, 3 sc, sc into sl st from previous rnd, sc into ch 2 space at start of rnd, ch 1 to finish
Fasten off, and weave in ends

back
Make 2, in pale brown
1-2 as for front of ear (above), working
only in pale brown
Fasten off, leaving an extra long yarn tail.

ear assembly
Assemble pairs of front and back ear pieces with wrong-sides facing. Using a tapestry needle and yarn tail, sew ear pieces together, working around the outside of row 2. Ears do not need to be stuffed.
Pass yarn tail through the ear, exiting at the rounded base, and attach ears to top of head. Ears should sit just behind hairline, either side of antlers.

face : Using black embroidery floss, embroider mouth on face, 3 sts wide and between rnds 7 and 8.


Embroider eyes
using pictures as a guide. Eye arc should be roughly 4 rnds wide and 2 to 3 sts tall.
In pink, add small cheek markings under the outer edge of each eye.

nose
In red. Work in a joined rnd.
1 6 sc into MC, sl st into first sc [6]
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew nose to centre of face, just below the fringe.

Arms
Make 2, in skin colour
1 6 sc into MC [6]
2 (sc, inc) x 3 [9]
3 9 sc [9]
Work ‘short rounds’ to create the palm of the hand and wrist. Work in rows, turning as indicated (there are no turning chains).
4 turn and make 4 sc on wrong-side of work, do not finish rnd, turn [4]
5 3 sc, do not finish row, place 1st stitch marker in last stitch of row, turn [3]
6 2 sc, do not finish row, place 2nd stitch marker in last stitch of row, turn[2]


End of ‘short rounds’. With right-side facing, continue on to join short rnds 5 and 6 to the remaining 5 unworked sts from rnd 4.
7 2 sc across rnd 6, sc into the stitch with the 1st stitch marker, 5 sc around remaining stitches of rnd 4, sc into stitch with the 2nd stitch marker [9]
8 work sc directly into the 1st stitch of rnd 7 and continue working in a spiral, making another 8 sc around [9]

LEGS AND BODY
The legs and body are worked in one piece, from feet up. Join arms in rnd 29.
Make 2, in skin colour
1 6 sc into MC [6]

3-12 12 sc [12] for 10 rnds
or first leg, sl st into next st and fasten off. Repeat for second leg but do not fasten off, continue on to join the legs.
Change to pale brown
From second leg, ch 3. Join to first leg by working a sc directly into the next st on the first leg (the st into which we made the sl st). Mark this as first st of rnd 13.

Ch 7. Work in rows around both sides of chain (ch 1 does not count as a stitch).

1 start in 2nd ch from hook and work back down ch, 5 sc, 4 sc in last st, continue on other side of ch, 5 sc, ch 1, turn [14]

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew bib to front of body, over rnds 23 to 30, leaving the picot sts loose.

final assembly
Use a tapestry needle to sew the body to the head, working through all 16 sts around neck opening. Secure to the head between the hairline and last 3 rnds of the back of the head (use pictures as a guide).
Add extra stuffing to neck before finishing.

FINISHED!!!
